About the TLI

What is the TLI?
The Teaching and Learning Initiative was established in 2006 as a way to help open dialogue among members of the Bryn Mawr College — and, by extension, Haverford College  — community. With support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a branch of the TLI, the Teaching and Learning Institute, focuses on fostering dialogue and collaboration around teaching and learning between and among faculty and students. Although the Tri-Co community is advanced in many ways with respect to personalized and open education, we’ve found that there are still often unintentional gaps and misconceptions that teachers and students have about each other and themselves. Through the Students as Learners and Teachers (SaLT) program, student consultants are matched up with faculty members based on scheduling compatibility and areas of interest to try to bridge those gaps and enrich teaching and learning experiences.
